All receipts for payment of MRV fees issued before October 1, 2022, were extended until September 30, 2023, and remain valid until this date. In June, UKVI updated that certain family applications made outside the UK, such as joining a family member in the UK, may now take up to 24 weeks to process. We are also aware of instances of dependant children and spouse visa applications taking weeks longer to process than main Skilled Worker visa applicants. There is also a delay with other types of applications, such as transit visas, which may take six weeks to process. If the visa for which you are applying allows derivative children, your unmarried children under the age of 21 may be added as derivative applicants after your interview has been scheduled.

If the visa application is made from outside the UK, the processing time will generally take up to 12 weeks. Applications made from within the UK, will generally take up to 8 weeks to process. Priority service and super priority services for applications being made from outside the UK have now been resumed since they were suspended between March and August 2022 due to prioritising Ukraine Scheme applications.

If you had indefinite leave to remain and left the UK for more than 2 years you’ll need to apply for a Returning Resident visa to come back. Your family members can apply if you have been given asylum or 5 years’ humanitarian protection, and not have British citizenship. If your family are included in the application then they must attend to also give their biometrics. Even children under 6 years old must provide a photo for biometrics . If your family members are not applying they can attend with you, but where possible it is best children stay with a family member or friend during the appointment. Applicants are limited to the number of times they can reschedule their appointments. Please plan accordingly so that you are not required to pay another visa application fee. You must directly contact the embassy/consulate to request specific instructions. At the interview the added applicant will be required to pay the same fees, and submit the same forms and supporting documents as the original applicant. Under current processing times, visitor visa applications from outside the UK are taking six weeks instead of the usual three. Visa applicants are therefore advised to take guidance on the current processing timescales for their specific type of application. Although NVC strives to schedule appointments within three months of NVC’s acceptance of all requested documentation, this timeframe is subject to the operating status and capacity of the consular section.
